Not Enough Hours in the Day, Part 2
After blogging yesterday, I seemed to be more aware of the time I was spending yesterday evening. I also became a little more aware of some of the things on the “things I don’t have time to do” list that weren’t completely necessary (#5, #8). So how did I spend yesterday evening? Let’s see…
5:00pm // Arrived home after being in the office at Coastal Oaks Church all day and started helping Mary clean for Grace Group at 6:30.
6:00pm // Finished cleaning the bathroom, toilet, and tub, and then moved to a quick outdoor project. I moved my trashcan’s parking spot, which was previously right next to the side entrance (our main entrance), so that the trash can isn’t the first thing you see when you come up to my house any more, while Aubrey jumped on her trampoline.
6:10pm // Sat down with Mary and Aubrey for a quick dinner before Grace Group.
6:30 – 8:45pm // Grace Groupers started arriving on the front end of this time slot and we had an awesome night of discussion, prayer, Bible study, and encouragement.
8:50pm // As soon as the last folks trickle out, I bathed Aubrey, and after getting ready for bed, we lay in the floor in her room where she told me the grand story of her day as only she could. I’m pretty sure she didn’t see an elephant yesterday, but it was in her story.
9:00pm // Aubrey goes “nite nite” with Mary, leaving Avery and I on the couch. Avery is actually awake, so I lay down next to her on our futon and let her touch my face and play with my goatee while I hum David Crowder’s “How He Loves” with iTunes backing me up.
9:30pm // Mary emerges victorious from Aubrey’s room and informs me of her desire to be on Facebook for about 10 minutes, and then go to bed. Avery has plans to resolve hunger issues, with Mary’s help of course, so Mary feeds Avery while I read up on my Google Reader news feeds (300+ stories all from yesterday? Did I miss a day?).
10:00pm // Avery finishes eating and assumes a sleepy position on my chest. I trade my laptop for the book I’m currently reading (“Killing Cockroaches” by Tony Morgan) and the light of a soft lamp. Mary resumes pursuit of her “10 minutes on Facebook” plan.
10:30pm // Mary and Avery go to bed while I read for just a bit longer. Hey, it’s a good book.
11:00pm // I can’t take it anymore. The words are blurring together and I having to read the same paragraph 2-3 times to get the content of it, so I go to bed. I think I’m asleep in less than 2 minutes.
So how did I do? Look at the list of things I wanted to do from 8/25/09 and see what I was able to accomplish through time management. In fact, leave me a comment – I don’t mind.
