1096 Days Ago

As the weekend progressed, I found myself reminiscing last night about how different my life was exactly 1096 days ago. 1096 = 3 years + 1 day = Oct. 24th, 2006, for those without a calculator handy. Here’s the short list…

1096 days ago…
Mary and I lived in Newark, TX, about 20 miles northwest of Ft. Worth, where we had lived for 3 years.
…we both worked at Northwest ISD and ministered at FBC Newark.
…Mary and I were celebrating the birth of Joel David Poston to our best friends, David and Stephanie Poston, who live entirely too far away.
…we were without a house…well kinda. We were actually staying with a great friend while our rented trailer house was being moved on really short notice.

Now let’s fast forward 1 day.

1095 days ago…
…Mary and I welcomed Aubrey Joy Barlow into the world at 8 lbs. 14 oz. at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, TX. That day forever changed my outlook on life and the grace of God.
…those in attendance for Aubrey’s birth were paternal grandparents Jimmy and Ava Barlow, maternal grandparents Billy and Carolyn McDaniel, paternal great-grandmother Betty Patillo, Betsy Blevins, Elizabeth Kidd, and Brian and Lindy Walker (my sisters and 1 husband).

And now in explanation of the picture above, our little family has grown even more. That’s Aubrey Joy on the left of the pic, with baby sister Avery Claire (born 8/08/09) and Aubrey’s favorite baby doll, Shasta (yes, named after the soda pop). Don’t they make a great team!?!

I say all of that I have said thus far to say this…I’m am blessed beyond measure and grateful beyond words. My God has rescued my life not once, but twice, from the pit of death, my wife has loved me despite my faults unconditionally, and given me 2 gorgeous daughters whom I love, and my family is just……well……incredible.

Thank you God for Your love and provision, and for our health, love, life that You have given. Amen!

My reference to God’s rescuing was not to 2 medical events. It was to 1 medical (leukemia) and 1 spiritual (day of salvation).

I was just about to remind you that Jason and Allison were present that day, too. Which two medical events were you referring to that God saved you from. Personally, everytime you had an asthma attack, it was cause for concern.Anyway, ALL, pneumonia, asthma, and appendicitis were all times you had us on your toes.

Jason and Allison were there, too. It was raining that day and Jason was off so he came, too. I was just looking at her birth pictures earlier this week and thinking how fast the years have gone. Enjoyed reading your bloggage about her.
